March 2025 CAHIP Golden Gate Newsletter
President's Report

CAHIP-Golden Gate is a medium-sized California chapter with approximately 150 Members including 13 volunteer board members.
Our chapter encompasses the East Bay, North Bay and greater San Francisco Bay Area.
With such a widely dispersed geographic area and traffic congestion to boot, it's often challenging for our members to engage with us on in-person events.
Nevertheless, we strive to offer opportunities throughout the year for members to attend a mix of in person social networking and professional development activities as well as virtual webinars.
You are blessed to have board members who serve with passion in leadership at various levels within the organization including on the local, state and national boards.
Together, we bring our collective knowledge, insight and industry connections to the board meetings and the various committees were serve on every month, brainstorming how best to serve and represent you and support the organization as a whole. Please take a moment to complete our Member Survey as we value your feedback!
If you are interested in volunteering your time and leveling up to leadership, please consider joining our Professional Development committee and help us plan engaging monthly member events.
We are also looking for members interested to join next year's Board starting July 1st. You may reach us via email at: [email protected]
In the spirit of transparency, I want to share five accomplishments of things we've worked on or are working on this year.
1. Our chapter was represented in Washington DC at NABIP's annual Capitol Conference. Representatives met with lawmakers in their districts and shared NABIP's legislative priorities, lobbying on behalf of Agents, Consumers and our industry. To review NABIP's priorities and talking points for this legislative year, please visit https://nabip.org/media/9986/nabip-2025-capitol-conference-talking-points.pdf
2. I, along with several other board members, traveled at our own expense to Long Beach, CA to attend CAHIP's Annual Innovation Expo. The Expo was an opportunity to network with other members of California chapters and mingle with Exhibitors to learn about new products and services that shape our industry as well as have an opportunity to interact more intimately with NABIP esteemed CEO, Jessica Brooks-Woods and hear more about her vision and initiatives for our Association. These conferences are not just for our own edification; but rather we bring back ideas, inspiration and a sense of shared camaraderie to deploy in our local chapter.
3. Our Chapter hosted its Annual Legislative Update in January - bringing together our California healthcare lobbyist Faith Borges, along with NABIP's Director of Government Affairs, Max Karlin. Max serves as the federal Lobbyist for NABIP. CAHIP President Rosamaria Marrujo also attended the meeting and gave us a State of CAHIP address, emphasizing the need for everyone in our industry to be informed and engaged in the legislative process.
4. Myself, along with several other board members, traveled to Sacramento on March 6th to attend annual Bill Review - we reviewed key bills affecting our industry and collectively decide how CAHIP will prioritize and respond in preparation for CAHIP's annual Capital Conference in Sacramento on May 12-14. We invite all CAHIP members and prospective members to attend this important conference, get exposure to the legislative process and join us in this unique opportunity to lobby our state lawmakers.
5. We have two big member events that are currently in the planning stages: Annual Broker Symposium and Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The Symposium is a day focused on Professional Development with CE credit courses and networking with our carrier reps, vendors and other industry partners. We ask all of our members to support this event and invest in your own growth. We are working very hard to put together an engaging event - but it won't be successful without you! The golf tournament is a fun and relaxing day to get out of the office and support a local Bay Area charity that's doing great work in Sonoma: The Assistance League of Sonoma County. Check out our calendar of events for more details!
