President's Report

As 2024 comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Annual Sponsors for your commitment and financial support.  

The money raised through your partnership helps our chapter continue to champion the causes that are important to all of us in the California health insurance marketplace.

I also want to thank the CAHIP-GG Board for their support.  Showing up at meetings, representing our chapter at national and state conferences, volunteering your time to help plan fun and engaging Member events and contributing your ideas and talents to help our Chapter progress has been both challenging and rewarding.  Many of you serve multiple leadership roles at all levels of the Organization and I'm grateful for such a "deep bench" of capable professionals to serve with.  

I also want to thank our CAHIP-GG Members for your support.  Paying your NABIP dues, engaging in Operation Shouts, telling others about the value of NABIP, and networking with us at the local, state and national level is so important to the organization at large as well as boosting your own professional development.  We've kept you up-to-date on legislation that impacts your agencies and our carrier partners.  We've provided opportunities for you to leverage technology and engage with us both virtually and in person to broaden your skills.  If you are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities to serve on a committee or fill a board position of this local chapter, or even opportunities at the CAHIP state or NABIP national level, please reach out to any one of our current board members for more information.  

We have lots of things we're planning for you in 2025 - including our Annual Legislative meeting in January; our Annual CE Symposium in April, our Annual Golf Tournament in September and monthly member meetings throughout the year - we hope you will continue to partner with us and plan to join us for a great year.

NABIP News

We all can celebrate a big win on the Federal Legislative front...The Paperwork Reduction Act and Employer Reporting Improvement Act. 

The Employer Reporting Improvement Act - in summary - gives employers at least 90 days to respond to a 226-J letter and allows the 1095 B/C letters to be electronically delivered.   

The U.S. Senate has passed the Employer Reporting Improvement Act and the Paperwork Burden Reduction Act, bipartisan bills that now head to *President Biden* for signature into law. These reforms simplify ACA compliance, reduce regulatory burdens, protect personal information, and modernize outdated processes—allowing agents and brokers to focus on helping consumers secure the coverage they need.

👏🏽NABIP extends deep gratitude to Senators Mark Warner (D-VA), Todd Young (R-IN), John Thune (R-SD), and Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) for their leadership in advancing these essential reforms.
